As patrons leave after a Music in the Great Hall concert, the most frequently heard comment
is "this was the best yet!" That was our goal, and it worked.
So it was from the very beginning of MIGH, our keen desire to make the most attractive and varied
program from the wealth of --often unfamiliar-- chamber music in a naturally friendly ambience. With
world-class musicians in a lively, exciting, warm, and beautiful performance of the great music,
we had to succeed! |

Furthermore, at each concert since 1974, the artists have spoken to the assembled guests about the
music to be heard. With incisive comments they have analyzed the score where appropriate, or spoken about
the composer and his time. Eventually the audience became involved, interacting with the artists in these
brief remarks. Conversation between audience members and artists over refreshments at intermission
provides further enjoyment.
Our small scale setting --not a concert hall with proscenium arch but simply a room, a space-- creates
a level of intimacy unique to chamber music performance. Most important to any performance is the space
in which it is performed. For its warmth and clarity, our acoustic setting is superlative.
